That’s right. Round two!

I’d like to introduce you to Charles, a friend I’ve had the pleasure of working with (some years ago now) who is an excellent artist and an all-around swell guy.

But enough from me, here’s the interview:

Tell us a bit about yourself and your favorite creative activities

My name is Charles Searight Jr and I am 33 and currently work in the films and video games industry. I have been working in this industry for roughly 10 years doing a variety of responsibilities. I have done animation, camera tracking, lidar scanning, been a PA, storyboards, illustrations, outsourcing, various tasks and responsibilities for motion capture, and a little bit of concept.

When do you find it easiest to be creative?

Hmmm…usually I find it easiest to be creative at night. Something about it is quieter and I can push late through the night without blinking an eye or even thinking to much about. That might just be because I tend to be more of a night owl haha.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I find inspiration all over, instagram is a big place I get inspiration from. I love looking through comic books for inspiration a lot and trying to see the strokes and marks that make the whole picture. When I'm at work, I like listening to and watching artist on youtube talking about their processes and going through why they make the artistic choices that they decide to make.

What is one suggestion you would give to someone who wants to further develop their creativity?

A bit of advice that I heard when I was younger that always stuck with me was to never stop learning, the moment you think that you know everything there is to know is the moment that you stop growing and your creative work will show it.

Where can people find you or your work?

You can usually find any of my work on Instagram @chuck186 and hopefully on other places here in the future.

And here’s a little sample of his fine work, including a few exclusives:
